The Desolated Soul
You know it's hurting when
the smile has abandoned your way;
You know it’s hurting when
you don’t have words to say.
You know it’s hurting when
you spend all day sleeping;
You know it’s hurting when
you can’t put an end to weeping.
It is the chapter of our lives which
some of us have left behind;
It is the chapter of our lives which
some of us are still writing.
Isn't this an ordinary depiction of normal human survival which some of us have left behind and some are still trying?
Hurting is a part of life like gaiety. The only difference is the first one comes effortlessly and refuses to pass. You have to endeavor to heal and still there will be a trigger point which may ruin all your efforts.
The second one is arduous to bring off and goes within a blink of an eye.
How does pain feel like?
It feels cold even if you have swaddled yourself with a duvet. It does not let you sleep even after shutting your eyes for an eternity.
When you find yourself hurting, you make an effort to shield yourself against anymore such agony. You envelope yourself in a cocoon so that no one can ever hurt you again.
At first, it appears to be running away from people around but to all intents and purposes it ends up losing oneself.
At first, it appears to be trying to not care about anything but as it happens you end up suppressing your own feelings.
Staying alone and enjoying your own company is different from just being alone. The first case can be termed as self-love but the second one is different. Self-love is helpful and important. You need to love yourself regardless of people telling you- “you need to lose weight”, “you need to gain some weight”, “you are a bit too dark to be called pretty”, “why do you wear so much make-up?”, “it’s a party yaar, at least do some make-up to look pretty”, “wear a heel, you’ll look tall and bold”, “red lipstick, short dress, slut!”, “you are a man, why are you wearing make-up?”, “men don’t cry”, etc.
The second one (being alone) is not that helpful. In the beginning it may give you peace but eventually you’ll realize that you lost yourself somewhere in between when trying to escape. And now you don’t even know where to find yourself. Detaching yourself from people around you may sometimes help you to heal but distancing yourself from your inner being is futile. But as of now you have already lost yourself while trying to heal, tell me how you feel.
Do you still feel pain?
(No, because now you've suppressed your feelings so much that you don’t feel anything.)
Have you attained tranquility?
(No.)
Did you flourish in healing yourself?
(Answer it yourself. Be true to your heart.)
